Halloween Day - Ian and Teresa's Wedding Day

According to Japanese lore, folding 1000 origami cranes is tuly a labor of love. Tradition holds the bride who finishes this task (called sembazuru) before her wedding day will be richly rewarded with a good and happy marriage. Paying homage to the majestic crane, which mates for life and is said to live one thousand years, the bride ensures her own good fortune. In Japan, sembazuru is done when someone has a wish, be it for peace, health or luck. Today, couples fold 1000 cranes for a wish of a long and prosperous marriage. The folding of the cranes can be done with entire families and friends, not just the bride or the one making the wish. It is believed that the more people involved the more luck you will have. These pictures were taken the day of Ian and Teresa's Wedding in Las Vegas at the Artisan hotel in the garden area. It turned out beautiful. There were paper lantersn and cranes everywhere.

Pre- Halloween Festivies

So on Halloween Eve the girls went to Vegas to hang out with Teresa to do their pre wedding stuff. They got pedicures and manicures and hung out. Then they met up with Grandpa Jody, Grandma Tippi, Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Ian and Uncle Louis and ate at a all you can eat seafood buffet. Kylee was in heaven - she loves crab legs. So what did we do? Well, Casey was preg checking cows and me and the boys, well we didn't do much of anything. Ashlee called and asked if the boys wanted to carve pumpkins. We didn't have much else going on since Casey was gone so the boys and I went pumpkin hunting. Walmart was sold out and the boys really wanted to get some, so we tried Harmons. We were in luck. We picked out 3 small pumpkins. One for each of the boys and one for T. They wanted to carve a skull for her for a wedding present that she displayed at her reception. (They picked a skull cause she loves those). We met up at Nancy's with Tyler and Aleisha and their family, Mitch and Val and little Brooklyn. Here are some pics of the festivities.

October 29th Halloween School Parade

This year we were not planning on getting costumes for Halloween because T and Ian were getting marries on Halloween day. The boys had a parade at their school and I told them they could skip the parade since they didn't have a costume. For once, they both wanted to be at school. The girls took the boys to our friend Sona Petersons house and went through their stack of Halloween Costumes. This is what they picked.

Boy Scouts Of America 100 Year Celebration Sept 18th

This year was the 100 year celebration for the Boy Scouts of America. There were around 5000 or so boy scouts and cub scouts that participated and around 10,000 people were involved which included leaders and volunteers. The boys had alot of fun. This event was 6 hours long, but by the time we left and got home, we were with the boys for 8hrs. Besides the fact that I had migraine and the Coke machine wasnt working, we had a good time. They Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts were separated for there events, but at the closing ceremonies, they were all seated together in the outdoor arena at the Washington Fair Grounds. They enjoyed a concert, a message from the President Monson and a firework show. On top of all that excitement, 4 boys in our pack won prizes including Dillon. He won a pair of Underarmor Sweatbands and 10.00 to a hamburger joint.

This last weekend, we headed to Las Vegas to try on bridesmaid dresses for Teresa's upcoming wedding, YES - I said WEDDING! The date is set for Oct 31st in Salt Lake. The colors are white and this beautiful apple red. Kylee is pictured below in the exact dress and the exact color. They will have white cover ups to wear as it will probably be quite cool there.

Bucky and our missing hen

We have been enjoying raising our 14 hens not just because they are laying eggs, but because a few of them have become our childrens pets. There are 4 in particular that the kids love to carry around. Henrietta, Blaze, Red and Jessabell. Well we recently added 4 wild hens to our bunch since we got rid of all our roosters. We only wanted egg laying hens. About a few weeks ago this rooster showed up. We didn't notice until it started to cockadoodle doo in the mornings. Fortunatly it never bothered us because they live in Nancy's back yard! Ha Ha. We took care of this rooster thinking it might go back to wherever it came from, but it kept hanging around. About a little over a week later, one or our hens turns up missing. I thought one of Casey's friends was playing a trick on us, until we noticed that this missing hen would show up at night. Then she'd disappear again. When we did see her in the day time our horse Bucky would fight with her. She would kick and buck around this hen. Well.........this is why!
This is Bucky. She has been pretty honery with one of our hens and we couldn't figure out why.

It's because one of our hens has been laying eggs in her salt lick bucket. She's been sitting on 9 eggs now for about 2 weeks.

I guess we'll see if they hatch in another week or so!

Elk Hunt Winkle Ranch

This past weekend we went to the pasture at the Winkle Ranch to shoot a cow elk. The kids also shot their pellet guns, fished in the stream and went coyote hunting with grandpa Brent and Tyler. The pasture is so pretty and relaxing. There are alot of elk to see, but unfortunatly, I didnt come home with one. I really didn't get a chance to shoot. Our plans are to go back in a few weeks before the guided hunts begin.

The kids went back to school last wednesday. I am now home with no kids in tow. I get 5 hrs. of me time. The house is cleaned by 9:30 and so I spend quite alot of time cooking(trying new recipes), sewing, reading, running errands and hanging out on the computer. When it starts to cool down, I'll get back into the yard thing. Here are pics of the kids on the first day of school.

City Leage Baseball

The boys had a great year on their city league baseball team. Dillon played for the Pirates and Payton played for his favorite team "The Angels". Dillon played short stop and pitcher while payton played all over. My favorite position for payton was catcher. He was so cute!

Branding Cows

Casey took the boys to brand cows for the first time. The boys' job was to let a few calfs through the gate then pull the rope so one calf gets loaded onto the branding table.

On the 4th calf, Dillon's thumb got smashed in the gate, when the calf suddenly backed up. The end result? A broken thumb

After icing it for about 30 minutes, Dillon decided to go back and work. There wasn't anything we could do until the swelling went down, plus it was a weekend. On monday he got a full cast which he was to wear for 4 weeks. He thought it was cool, until he found out he had to forfit his spot on the All Star Team. Mom was bumbed!

Dixie Jr. Livestock Show 2010

The girls had a great experience this year at the stock show. They've become alot more confident in themselves around these 1300 + animals. This year they started there project early so that the animals would be alot calmer and well Kylee's steer was still a knot head. It just didn't want to listen in the ring and set up the way it was suppose to. Overall the girls still had a great time. Next year will be Dillons first year and I think he's looking forward to it. As for Payton, well he seems to think he'll be to busy traveling on a baseball league....we'll see! Here are some hightlight pics.

Mariah's Science Project

We are so proud of Mariah and her accomplishments in school. Science is one of her hardest subjects and she went above and beyond this year. She completed her chick project and was even successful at hatching one bird. She placed 3rd place at her school for the 7th grade class and was invited to district and placed 5th! We were very excited!

Spring Break Hiking

On Sunday, the day after our 1St Annual Darrel and Carolyn Family Reunion, we decided to go on a hike. This was the 2nd day of the kids Spring Break so they felt like they needed to be entertained and doing fun things. We went on a hike over in Ivins, by Uncle Louis' old house, to see some petroglyphs. Uncle Louis was down from Salt Lake and was able to join us for the morning before he had to get back home. The weather wasn't the best, but at least it wasn't raining. We headed up the trails that zig zagged up the hill until we came across alot of rocks that were spread out along the hill side. There were tons of petroglyphs. My boys have always been fascinated with the indian writings and love to try and make out what the pictures are of. Here are some pictures of the event:

Darrel and Carolyn Gubler 1st Annual Family Reunion

This year was the 1st Annual Darrel and Carolyn Gubler Family Reunion. Brent and Nancy were in charge and had planned a fun filled weekend at the Bar 10 Ranch which was to include 4 wheeling, Skeet Shooting, Games, Hikes, The Grand Canyon and yummy food. Unfortunalty the weather did not permit us to go there so we had to make a change in plans. Instead we went to Brent and Nancys house and had breakfast together. Shortly after that we gave the kids rides on the horses, played a game of baseball, rode wheelers, had a bb gun shooting contest, went skeet shooting, played dominoes, and had a nice dinner. Although things didn't turn out the way we initially had planned, it was a nice reunion. Here are some pictures of the event.

Mariah's Science Project

Mariah decided to participate in the science fair this year at her school. She wanted to see if she could hatch chickens in an incubator or under a heat lamp. Casey and I know that she really did this project because she wanted to have chickens, but we decided to go along with it. Hatching chickens wasn't very easy. Infact we incubated over a dozen eggs at different times and were only able to hatch one. She did a good job at making sure the incubator had water, the temperature was right and that the eggs were turned in the morning and at night. Here are some pictures of her chick.

Unfortunatly the chick wasn't healthy and died the next day. So........we went to IFA a few days later and purchased 8 chicks. They are much easier to raise than to hatch them. Hopefully in the next 5 months, we'll be able to have our own fresh eggs!

Dillon and his team won the Championship Game a few weeks ago and became the 2010 Washington County Champs for his age group. He has come a long ways in the few short years since her first started playing organized basketball. He is doing very well and enjoys sports. Time for baseball season!

Lakers Game

Casey and I went to the Lakers Game on the 5th. We had great seats! We were 7 rows up from the court. It was amazing, my first NBA game. I had taken my camera so I could take pictures, but on our tickets it said NO CAMERAS. So I ofcourse didn't take it. I happened to be the ONLY person without a camera! I was so dissapointed. How many times does a person get to go to an NBA game and sit that close? We saw Denzel W., Chloe K., George Lopez, Andy Garcia, and Stacey Augman, Coach Gerg and John Welch from UNLV.

Scouts support Haiti

Today our scouts went around the neighborhood and collected supplies for the victims in Haiti. It was exciting for the boys and they did an amazing job. They collected granola/cereal bars, empty water bottles, hand sanitizer, first aid supplies and even cash donations. It was neat to see how excited they were to help those in need.

Pinewood Derby

This past thursday was Dillons First Pinewood Derby. He was very excited about it. Casey and Dillon and Grandpa Brent Cut out the old fashioned wedge and weighed it with shot gun bb's. It was spray painted by Dillon in red with a black stripe down the middle. We will always remember this project because we have spray paint marks on my front porch! FHE Ice Skating

Casey and I took the kids to go Ice Skating for FHE this past monday. We got together with Ashlee, Mitch and Val, and Tyler and Aleisha and their family. It was freezing, but the kids had a lot of fun. The kids skated for 2 hrs and what an ordeal it was. Dillon was all wet from falling, Blake had sores on his feet from wearing the wrong socks. Mitch's nose turned red and Lyla kept crying everytime someone ran into the wall. Casey took pictures, I took care of Lyla. Mitch, Val and Ashlee took turns helping Payton and Tyler and Aleisha were helping Blake. I think the adults were more exhausted then the kids!

Payton has started his very first year of basketball this year. He is on the Cavaliers team. They had their first game on saturday and won. Dillon's season is almost over. He plays for the Rockets and is undefeated. He has improved so much since last year and loves it. He is hoping for a trophy to add to his collection of sports recognitions. Here are a few pictures of the boys. As for the girls, well I cant ever seem to captivate them in any pictures. Kylee is still in guitar and has been for a year now and Mariah plays the violin. They are both active in 4H and very active with facebook and texting. It seems to be the only important things in life right now! Anyways, here are pics of the boys.

So Casey has earned his first heifer working on the ranch with his uncles. He branded it this past week and will artificially inseminate it this summer. (Notice the CG on the front shoulder? The first of the year was celebrated with friends playing poker. It didn't quite beat the New Years we had playing the Newlywed Game with Curtis and Robyn and all the Andersons, but it was still fun! We had good times and great food!

Casey had gotton some Angels tickets from work, but was only able to get 4 tickets that was playing on his birthday. As much as he wanted me and him to take our boys to the game, my girls weren't going for it! So Casey offered my sister and brother in law the tickets if they would take our boys. They were 13th row behind 3rd base, from the pictures, they seemed like awesome seats. My boys had a blast. They went down on Friday and went straight to the game and on Satureday they went to Balboa Island and Newport Beach. It was a short trip, but Valerie and Mitch said the kids had a blast and are ready for their next trip! Here are some pics Val took.

Girls Camp

So Mariah turned 12 on June 10th and Girls Camp was on June 2-4. I received a calling as Girls Camp Assistant so Mariah and I were 1st years together! It was exciting! We went to PineVally, the weather was perfect the food was yummy and camping was a breeze! What ever happened to going to camp for a week? Sleeping in Tents and roughing it? We had the luxury of staying in a cabin, but 22 girls in a 1 bathroom cabin was roughing it. Although we didn't get to take showers, I was greatful for a bathroom! Here are some highlight pictures.

Memorial Day Weekend

This year our family went to Kolob for some 4 wheeling fun up at the Cabin. Casey was helping on their uncles Ranch Gathering Cows so he wasn't with us, but me and the kids, Tyler and his family, Curtis and his family and Brent, Nancy and Ashlee and Grandma and Grandpa Blake went to the Cabin for the day.

The weather was nice, but the clouds started to roll in.

When the sun started to shine, we decided to go for a ride!

Give Me Liberty Award

This year Kylee worked hard and received a Give Me Libery Award and Certificate. This award is given to those students who completed 12 different areas of the Give Me Liberty Program. Just to name a few, she memorized the preamble, States and Capitals, Presidents, Had to write the Pledge of Allegiance without mistakes, recite the Declaration of Independance etc. We were so proud of her! This year we planted a big garden at Nancy's house and a small one at my house. We planted 400 onions, 4 eggplants, 78 tomatoe plants, 3 rows of potatoes, a row of peppers and jalapenos. At my house we planted squash, zuccini and Cucumbers! Here are pics from all our labor!

Mothers Day

This mothers day the kids surprised me with breakfast in bed and Casey surpised me with a beautiful boquet of roses! Kylee made me my favorite blueberry muffins with a glass of orange juice. I ate breakfast while watching my tivo episodes of Dancing With the Stars! I laid around for awhile before we had to get ready for church. Brent, Nancy, Ashlee, and Grma. and Grpa Blake joined us at church becuase Kylee had to give a mothers day talk. She did sooo well. Then we had dinner as always on Sunday at Nancy's house. After dinner, we all went out back for a game of baseball. Here are a few highlight pictures.

Dixie Jr. Livestock Show

Mariah has been a member of the 4H group for 4 years now and Kylee has been a memeber for 3 years. This year Casey and I were so pleased with the girls becuase they both outdid themselves at the Dixie Jr. Livestock Show. We couldn't have been more proud and impressed with the way the girls did. Mariah has always been extremely unsure of herself when it comes to handling steers while Kylee on the other hand can man hadle hers. Who blames Mariah though, they are 1300 lb animals who can easily toss you around, especially when your no taller than the animal. Well like I said they impressed us. Mariah was very confindent in herself this year. She for the first time entered and participated in show ring without the help of her dad. She answered all her questions correctly and she carried and used all the required items (the stick) properly. On another note, Kylee impressed us, because as she is very confident with herself she had the misfortune of being tossed to the ground the minute she entered the show ring. She was hit in the face with her stick and although she had a few tears, she composed herself and carried on with the show. She even was selected after all that to compete in the championship round. She placed 4th in her class, but to us she placed 1st. Who can feel confident and handle their 1300 lb animal without having the fear of being tossed again. The stock show is a 3 full day event which consists of Showmanship the first day, Judging of the animal the second day with a dinner and dance to follow and then the livestock auction the third day. Both girls sold their animals for $1900.00. Thanks to their aunt Teresa and her co-worker, their aunt MaryAnn and Uncle Rick, us and ofcourse their uncle Larry and uncle Kelly who allow them the opportunity to participate in these events! Also thanks for all those who supported the girls and came to watch! Especially Papa Jay and Grandma Vicki, Candace, James, Lindsey and Matt who traveled from Vegas to watch. We bred Harlee a few days ago. We should be able to find out if she is pregnant in about 30 days. The beuaty of being a dog is that she'll deliver in just 63 days! Wouldn't it be nice to carry a baby for only 63 days? I guess the world would be over populated if it were that easy!

So a friend of mine and I have been clipping coupons from the sunday paper and combining them with awesome store ads and coupons and you would not believe what great deals we get! It is a new addiction of mine, and so I started another blog, yah, another blog to help everyone else benefit like I have. Here is what I got on wednesday from albertsons using coupons that you can download online and from the sunday papers and from the store adds.

I started out with $15.00 in Catalinas (which are coupons from a previous shopping experience, so it's like cash), and I was able to purchase (2) 24 Pks of water, (6) 2literes of Pepsi, 5 boxes of Caprisuns, 2 bags of lays chips, 6 Digiorno pizzas, 4 tubs of Land O Lakes Butter, 3 Pkgs of Jello (6 in each pkg), 4 Boxes of Bagelfuls, 8cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup, 4 boxes of Crystal Light On the Go, 3 bags of Birdseye Corn, 10 Pkgs of Albacore Tuna, 1 Jar of Jalapenos and 2 Packs of Gum for $25.52 Out of Pocket. Between In store savings, coupons and catalina deals I saved $151.35. WOW!!!

Follow my blog at itshiptoclip.blogspot.com and I will help you get stuff for free or even for just a few dollars. The idea is to get multiple sunday papers though so you can get the coupons from the adds. When you get the manufacture coupons, put the date on them so you will always know where to go to clip your coupons. If you know people who get the paper and throw out their manufacture coupons, ask them to save them for you, cause it is well worth it. Look at my stuff!!!! Remember to follow my blog! Feb 20th Family Trip

This past weekend, we took the kids up north to see the Draper Temple and conveniantly, while we were there, Casey participated in one of their local team sorts. The kids were so excited to see the temple because they would actually be able to see more than the waiting area. The girls were interested in seeing where couples get married. Dillon and Payton loved the endowment rooms because of the animals (deer, elk) that were painted on the walls. It was a small, but beautiful temple.

We stopped at a few of our favorite stores and spent at least 1 1/2 hrs in Cabelas looking at things and shooting guns in their arcade. I cant believe we didn't spend a dime!!

We also had to stop at Smith and Edwards in Ogden. This is everyones favorite store because you can find anything and everything there for cheap!!!

Dillon knows basketball!!

Dillon kicked off 2009 playing his first year of organized basketball. He played for the Celtics and is a super defensive player! Go Celtics!!!

2008 Kolob Deer Hunt!

Here we spent at least 2 hours looking for a deer Casey "Said" he shot!!!

Future hunter! Only 7 more years until he is legal!!

Grandpa Brent was a good sport and took Payton out hunting with him. They saw some Turkeys and Payton said he popped one with his bebe gun. (Not sure how to spell bebe???)

Casey and Dillon spent the afternoon hiking for deer. As you can see, they didn't come back with one.

Me and a few of my friends decided to take a photography class and one of my assignments was to duplicate a pose from a magazine. There was an awesome picture of a dad and his son walking down the street with their ropes in their hands. I took this picture down by Nancy's house. It is one of my favorite pictures. Since I had everyone dressed up, I decided to go to an old house further down the street and take a few more pictures. Don't tell Casey you saw these!!!!

Harlee Had her first litter of puppies in March (7 pups) by C-Section and our family enjoyed the experiance of raising and caring for them. Honestly it was like have a baby all over again. We are planning to have another litter this summer!

Happy Holidays. It has come to my attention that everyone has a blog except me, so this blog is dedicated to my friend Marian! Merry Christmas. LOL!

We have had an exciting 2008 year and its hard to believe that it is almost over! Our children are growing up fast and life in the little town of St. George is quite busy! Mariah is 11 years old and attends Sunrise Ridge Intermediate School. She is active in her school choir, takes piano lessons, is active in 4H and is extremely interested in boys, (whom she cant date), makeup, (that she cant wear) and socializing with her friends (that she does on a regular basis).

Kylee is 10 years old and attends Little Valley Elementary School. She is active in her school choir, takes piano lessons, guitar lessons (come January), is active in 4H and too is interested in boys, (but is too shy to talk to them) and socializing with friends

Dillon is 7 years old and attends Little Valley Elementary School. He has been active in baseball, flag football and is now starting basketball. He loves to ride is bike, play the PlayStation and Wii and hang out with friends. He doesn't like girls, but they sure do like him!

Payton is 5 years old and goes to Barefoot Montessori. He has been active in tee ball and is thinking about playing basketball this coming year. He loves to ride his bike, his horse dually and hang out with friends.

We have two English Bulldogs who are a part of our family. Harlee and Gus. Harlee had her first litter of puppies this past year,(7 of them) and will be ready for another litter this coming summer. Gus is a new addition to our family and is 7 months old. He is huge!

We have 3 horses that live in my mother in laws back yard. Dually, Bucky and our newest addition Shag. Two belong to Casey as they are his sorting horses and Dually belongs to the family, but Payton seems to think he's his horse.

We currently have 2 steers that belong to the girls. They are their 4H steer project this year.

The boys have a ball python, Boa, compliments of their aunt tita (Teresa) and one bearded dragon Jordan.

Casey is busy with work and his horse hobbies. He likes to participate in the local team sorts with a few of his buddies here in town and help out whenever he can on his uncles ranch.

As for me, well I am always busy first and foremost with my family, but in what spare time I have, I am devoted to my online business (mjsclosetcollection.net). I have a lot of plans for the upcoming year for my business so if you know anyone with children or having a baby, please send them to my sight! I am always updating it with new products!
